A View From The Bluff Regional Tour

September 20 - September 22

This car tour is open to the members of Mountains and Plains Region of VMCCA.

We look forward to seeing you in Scottsbluff NE.

SEPTEMBER 20 – 21, 2024; LEAVING SEPTEMBER 22, 2024

HAMPTON INN & SUITES, 301 W HWY 26, SCOTTSBLUFF, NE $150.00 + 16% TAX

We must reserve no later than August 10, 2024: Call Hampton Inn & Suites at 308-635-5200 for your reservation, which is $150.00/night plus tax; and if you need to cancel your reservation later, you must call their number (308-635-5200) no later than September 18th; We would appreciate if you could place your reservation within the next 6 weeks; When making your reservation with Hampton Inn & Suites at 308-635-5200, let them know it is under Mountains & Plains Region.

Since we are not having a Registration Fee, we need you to text or call Shirley Reed at 308-665-5934 or Allen Trask at 605-673-3215 after you reserve your room.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20: We will meet you at the Breakfast room, which is near the Reservation Desk, to have you sign in, get your name tag and a copy of the itinerary from Shirley Reed.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21ST:

9:30am: Legacy of the Plains Museum; 2930 Oregon Trail, Gering NE 69341; this museum features an impressive collection of pioneer and early community artifacts, an 80-acre working farm; and striking views of Scotts Bluff National Monument.

1) Cost to enter Museum – $5.00; Harvest Festival starts at 10:00am – 4:00pm

2) Food trucks will be available on site; could purchase snacks there

1) Scottsbluff National Monument is south of the Legacy of the Plains Museum

a) DRIVE THE SUMMIT ROAD, 20-60 minutes (depends on how much you want to see at the top); https://www.nps.gov/thingstodo/drive-summit-road.htm

2) drive to the Visitor Center at Scottsbluff National Monument to see more about William Henry Jackson’s exhibit, which celebrates his work during 1843 – 1942 as a preeminent photographer of the American West

1:00pm: Meet for Lunch at a Mexican restaurant TBD (tentative)

2:30pm: Tour Tom Cozad’s Ford Garage with his extensive collection of restored antique Ford cars, Coca-Cola memorabilia room, vintage movie theater, 50’s soda shop and diner.

5:30pm: Meet for Dinner; Flyover Brewery (tentative)

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND:

9:00am: Drive to Lake Minatare then to Chimney Rock Museum; near Bayard NE Nebraska State Historical Society

11:30am Bob Cox’s Packard collection at the oldest Packard Car Dealership in the US;

1520 E Overland Drive and 15th Avenue in Scottsbluff NE

12:00pm: Meet for Lunch TBD; THANKS FOR COMING!
